In the State of Indiana, Foster Parents are State or county-licensed adults who provide a temporary home and everyday nurturing and support for children who have been removed from their homes by the Department of Child Services. Relative or kinship caregiver are other terms used to describe the similarly situated persons that act as foster parents but that may not require the same level of training as a foster parent.
Foster Parenting is one of the noblest acts a person or family can provide to any child. Fostering provides protection and stability for children that otherwise cannot be provided by their parents. Fostering to adopt is a selfless act that provides a child with the permanency that every child deserves.
